    Our Land

We are a small family business, passionately carrying on the farming traditions of our ancestors. The field is cultivated with seasonal vegetables, the grapes are harvested in September and the olives are grazed in October, which then become our delicious extra virgin olive oil. We are nature and animal lovers, and in the ten hectares of land surrounding the property, we host bee repopulation colonies and a wildlife oasis where you can admire pheasants, hares, roe deer, badgers, foxes and wild boars.

Year 1500, a very ancient history.

The birth of the property dates back to the early 1500s, when in 1543 Lucrezia di Luca de’Rossi brought as dowry this Villa, known as Montecchio, to her husband Bartolomeo Benricevuti. In 1773 it passed to Urbano di Salvatore Urbani. Other noble families succeeded each other on the estate. The Salimbeni Bartolini family is credited with the 19th-century construction of the panoramic terrace in the valley, where the original stone coat of arms with the famous motto ‘Per non dormire’ (Not to sleep) still stands. It later took the name of Villa Palagi, the name of the family that owned it until the 1960s. It is currently owned by a Florentine family, which has carried out a complete restoration, returning the Borgo and the Villa to its original splendour.
